The canoe was loaded much more lightly than on previous trips and responded well to my paddle strokes. It was already a hot day, temp in the 90s, but the narrow river was well shaded by the overhanging cypress trees with their trailing Spanish moss, and there was a slight breeze in my face. Thankfully the Guadalupe State Park is only minutes away from San Antonio, meaning that options for accommodation are plentiful.
